What is the AAWNC?

HISTORY

The AAWNC (formerly Greater Asheville Area Apartment Association GAAAA) was founded in early 1980 by a group of apartment managers and management firms to provide the apartment industry with an association that could unite them under one name, offer continuing education for their personnel, and providing related service groups the opportunity to become involved. These three factors became the foundation of the present association.

In 2010, the name was changed to the Apartment Association of Western North Carolina to further serve multi-housing professionals in our region.

OBJECTIVES

The three primary objectives of the AAWNC are:

  • To promote goodwill and professionalism within the industry and the community.
  • To provide ongoing educational opportunities for all members.
  • To promote the continuing growth of our industry through legislative guidance and support.

Each of the above objectives is of vital importance to every member of the Association, especially now, as our industry prepares for a future of increased governmental regulation at all levels, increased competition, and diminishing profitability industry-wide. Our ability to adapt to the future successfully depends to a large degree upon our joint efforts in accomplishing these goals.
